Frequently asked Questions

Q: Where are you located?
A: 2516 Five Forks Trickum Rd., Lawrenceville, GA, 30044. Click here for a map and detailed directions.

Q: What's your phone number?
A: 770-979-1864

Q: What are your service times?
A: On Sundays, Sunday School for children/youth and Bible Study groups for adults occurs from 9:00-10:00am. The main worship service begins at 10:15am and is usually over by 11:30am. Click here for more detailed information.

Q: Do I have to be a member to attend?
A: No. Guests are welcome, and we have many guests each week so you will not be alone or feel out of place when you attend.

Q: Does it cost anything or will I be asked for money?
A: Absolutely not! Attendance is free and though we do have a time in the service when our members give to finance the work of the ministry, you as our guest will never be expected to give.

Q: Will I be asked to say anything or sign up for anything?
A: No. We've all visited churches before too, and we know the importance of being able to check things out anonymously. We try to strike the right balance of being friendly and acknowledging your presence, without going overboard and making you feel like you're in the spotlight. Don't worry, we'll not hover over you, but we do like to make you feel welcomed.

Q: What is your music like?
A: We'll try to answer this with as little use of labels as possible, as they can be confusing sometimes. Here's what you'll see when you come to Brookwood: a 5-7 piece worship band, a 3-member vocal praise team, a 20-25 member worship choir, and our Worship Pastor, Scott Copeland, leading all these musicians and congregation from the piano. The overall style of the music is contemporary but with a good mix of old and new, balanced in tempo, and always appropriate in pointing our focus and attention onto God and not people. Click here for more information on the worship/music ministry.

Q: What are the pastor's sermons like?
A: Our pastor, Dean Oliver, strives to teach biblical principles in a way that is clear, simple, and yet creative. You'll usually have a fill-in-the-blanks sermon outline to help you follow the message. Often there is use of videos, drama, and other visuals, that help Dean illustrate points. Basically, with a very conversational teaching style, Dean tries to help the listener apply God's wisdom and truth in a way that makes a difference in our everyday lives. Q: What do I wear?
A: Casual/Business Casual/Comfortable. We're not hung up on appearances here. There was a time in our society when some people didn't go to church because they felt they didn't have nice enough clothes. Those days are gone at Brookwood. Never let the quality of your clothes keep you away. We'll just be glad that you're here!

Q: Where do I park?
A: If you can imagine our parking lot as if it's the face of clock, the entrance/exit is at the 6 o'clock spot (where the main sign is). Upon entering, you'll travel counter-clockwise (it's one way traffic) and at about the 2 o'clock location, you'll see a row of Visitor Parking spots on your right. When you exit your car and face the buildings, the Worship Center(Bldg. C) is directly in front you. If you've come early enough for Sunday School and Adult Bible Study Groups, click on this link for a Campus Map. When you leave the service, keep traveling counter-clockwise around the parking lot until you end up where you entered.

Q: Where is the Worship Service held?
A: Many people think that the first building up on the hill is our worship center, but it isn't. It used to be, which is why it looks like a church sanctuary. But that building is now the Children's Worship Center and the main worship center is the large building in the back of the property, Bldg. C. Click here to see the map.

Q: Do you have childcare?
A: Yes! Childcare for preschoolers, regardless of what portion of Sunday services you attend, is located on the first floor of Bldg. B, about at the 3 o'clock location on the "clock face" we mentioned in the answer above. Click on this link for the campus map.

Q: Do you have Children's Church?
A: Yes! Children attend worship with their parents during the musical portion of the service, then as the Pastor's message begins, all children are invited to walk together up to Bldg. A with our Preschool/Children's Director and parent volunteers to attend a worship service that's been designed especially for them. That way, children can receive a message that's more on their level, and parents can enjoy the Pastor's message without having to keep their children focused and occupied. Q: But what if I haven't been to church in a long time ... or maybe never?
A: There's an old saying that goes,.. "I could never go to church, because if I did the roof would fall in." It's an old folksy saying that simply means a person feels like they are so much of a sinner that if they ever showed up at church, God would not be happy that all their sin was "messing up all the holiness." Thankfully, the exact opposite is the case. God delights when sinners come closer to Him. And guess what? Because the Bible says we've ALL sinned and fallen short of God's standards, we've ALL been there in that same condition. So NO, the roof won't fall in. It didn't cave in when WE showed up, so it won't cave in when YOU show up either!

Q: What if I really like your church and want to join?
A: Then we'll take you! Seriously, we are praying that God brings new people to our church to help us accomplish the vision He's given us to reach the people of our community for Jesus Christ. Of course, you don't have to be a member to attend OR to help us in our work, but if you'd like to take that final step and make it official, we would love to have you.  Click here to learn how you can become a member.
